Karachi: The rate of target killings in Karachi has increased after Karachi Ashura Blast. 18 people associated with different political parties have been killed in 2 days. 5 people were killed alone on Saturday night by unknown terrorists.

“During the last 2 days, 8 people belonging to MQM Haqeeqi have been killed, “ MQM Haqeeqi spokesman Akhter Hussain said. “This is being done to divert attention from investigation of Karachi blast,” he added.

The police has confirmed the deaths of 8 people belonging to MQM Haqeeqi, whose names are as follows: Naseer (48), Danish Mohammad son of Mehmood Shah (30), Asif Kamal son of Syed Kamal, Akhter son of Hidayatullah (40), Faisal Ansari son of Abdul Sattar Ansari (28) and Mohammad Naseer son of Basheer Ahmed (40).

2 people belonging to Pakistan People Party, one of them identified as Abdul Ghafoor son of Badshah Khan (40) were also victims of latest target killings in Karachi.

2 people associated with a banned organization, one of them identified as Jamal son of Basit (30) are also among the dead.

The interior ministry has issued notification regarding establishment of a high-level committee to hold inquiry into the rising incidents of target killing in Karachi.

The committee will investigate incidents of target killing from July 2009 and will identify the people involved in such crimes.

According to the interior ministry’s authorities, the framework and power of the committee have also been decided. The committee will commence its work on January 5 and will submit its final report to the interior ministry on Jan 20.
