Pakistan, Suicide Blast in Peshawar Kills 3, 15 Wounded

At least three persons, including a commander of paramilitary forces, were killed and 15 others were wounded in a suicide blast on Wednesday in Pakistani northern city of Peshawar, said police.

A suicide bomber exploded himself as the official vehicle of Sifat Ghauoor, the commandant of Frontier Constabulary (FC), stopped at a traffic signal in Sadar area of Peshawar, capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa province, said Bashir Bilour, a senior provincial minister, while talking to newsmen.

The Minister Bilour said that it was not immediately clear whether the bomber was on foot or driving a vehicle. He said that there were probably two suicide bombers but nothing can be confirmed prior investigations.

The Minister said further that the FC Commandant, his driver and a passer-by were killed in the explosion. According to police sources, at least fifteen people were wounded in the incident. At least two vehicles were also damaged in the blast.

The incident of such kind was second, reported in the city in less than two weeks.

Earlier, the only son of provincial information minister, Mian Iftikhar Hussian, was gunned down by Taliban militants outside his house in Naushehra district.
